- Talk about 2 minAsk: which line did you start with, and why? Show one finished picture.
Questions to ask the class
- A row of 5 cells has the clue 2 2. What does it look like?Listen for: Two shaded, one blank, two shaded.
- A row of 5 cells has the clue 3. Which cell must be shaded?Listen for: The middle one: every place the run can go covers it.
- Why mark a dot if dots are never checked?Listen for: It reminds you a cell is blank, which helps the next clue.
A common mistake
Shading a cell because it looks right for the picture, not because a clue proves it.
How to help: Every card can be solved one line at a time without guessing. Ask them to name the clue that proves each cell. A hint names one row or column and what it proves.
Assign it
On the coach dashboard, choose your class under Cohorts. In Assign practice, pick Pixel Logic and the drill First steps or Solve the picture, add a due date if you want one, then press Assign. Students find it on their Train page.
Set First steps for a new class, then Solve the picture.
Results show on the dashboard by student and by game once the server has checked them.
